New Semester Checklist - Finances

Important tasks and actions students should complete before each semester to ensure a successful start to the academic term.

  • Go to myUNT to:
    • Check and complete any to-do list items.
    • View tuition and fee charges, anticipated aid and remaining balance due for the upcoming semester in the "Student Account" tile.
    • Review and accept your financial aid award using the "Financial Aid & Scholarships" tile. Accepting aid will allow it to apply toward your semester balance.
  • Review Important Dates, including deadlines and process timelines for the upcoming semester.
  • Incoming freshman who are Texas residents should visit Save & Soar to see if the guaranteed tuition plan is right for them. The option to select the Save & Soar tuition plan will be available in the “Student Account” tile menu.

  • Submit any required documentation for:
  • Access the “View and Pay Bill” menu option in the “Student Account” tile to complete the Refund Policy Acknowledgement and review Tuition Insurance Policy coverage for the semester through UNT’s partnership with GradGuard.
    • Tuition Insurance coverage is available for Fall and Spring semesters only.
  • Secure classes by completing payment arrangements before the semester’s payment deadline.
    • Pay your balance in full.
    • Enroll in a payment plan for the semester.
    • No payment action is required if “Anticipated Aid” exceeds the balance for the semester and no balance exists from a prior semester.
  • Confirm refund preference through the “Refunds” menu option in the “Student Account” tile. 
  • Check UNT email for important communications from UNT.
  • Schedule an appointment with Student Money Management for budgeting and financial coaching sessions.
