Undergraduate Applicants
- Transcripts are not required for admission, but they may be needed to verify that you meet academic prerequisites when you register.
- If you decide that you would like to become a degree-seeking student, you will need to submit a new application for admission.
- The application fee is non-refundable.
- If you are enrolling in in-person credit-bearing courses, Texas law may require you to provide proof of meningitis immunization.
- You must be in good academic standing and eligible to return to your previous institution.
- Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid at UNT.
Graduate Applicants
Your transcripts must show that you have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalent). To be eligible as a graduate non-degree seeking student, you will need a minimum GPA of 3.0 in your last 60 hours, or a 2.8 overall GPA.
International applicants should review information about submitting academic documents.
Haven’t finished your bachelor’s degree yet? If you are applying before graduating with your bachelor’s degree, simply submit your most recent transcript and we will review it for admission consideration.

Do I need to submit transcripts to apply?
Official transcripts are not required for admission as an undergraduate non-degree seeking student. If you plan to take courses that require prerequisites, you may be asked to provide transcripts to verify eligibility. By enrolling, you confirm you are in good academic standing and eligible to return to any institution you previously attended.
When can non-degree seeking students register for classes?
Non-degree seeking students can register for courses two weeks before the semester begins. Be sure to monitor registration dates as your term approaches.
Can non-degree seeking students receive financial aid?
No. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid at UNT. If you have questions about payment options, our team is happy to help.
Are immunizations required?
If you plan to take in-person courses, Texas state law may require proof of a meningitis immunization before you can register.
Can I become a degree-seeking student later?
Yes. Many students begin as non-degree seeking and later pursue a degree. To change your status, you will need to submit a new application for admission.
